Ed has been working as an artist in residence with Boutcher Primary School for the past 5 years.
His latest collaboration was a term long project about working life in Southwark. In partnership with the school Ed took pupils on 19 trips to draw people at work in the borough. Pupils were able to ask questions about their subjects’ working lives at they drew them.
The resulting 19 narrative paintings of everyone from butchers’ to barristers, a blacksmith, a fire station crew, a fishmonger, a biogas startup, the Kernel Brewery, staff and patients at Guy’s Hospital and many more scenes and sketches, will be on display at Southwark Council HQ in a true celebration of the working life of the borough.
